A good guy with a gun? Hard to believe but yes, a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun. As most of you probably heard, a lunatic went into a mall in Indiana earlier this week and sadly killed 3 people. This piece of garbage entered a bathroom near the food court, spent over 1 hour preparing himself, and exited the bathroom firing indiscriminately. Fortunately for many people, a young man who legally carried a concealed firearm took action and stopped the perpetrator of this heinous crime within seconds.
The right person at the right time
The young man in question was carrying a concealed firearm under the “Constitutional Carry” law. This law was recently passed in Indiana and took effect on July 1, 2022. Reports state that our hero was shopping with his girlfriend. According to Greenwood Police Chief James Ison, our hero heard the gunfire, took a position behind a column and began firing on the lunatic from 40 yards away. He landed 8 of 10 shots and within 15 seconds of exiting the bathroom, the shooter was down. While he was engaging the shooter, he was also trying to urge people to run. Regardless of your thoughts on guns, this young man is a shining example of “a good guy with a gun”. He did not hesitate and stopped a madman that had 2 rifles, a handgun, and 100 rounds of ammunition. It has also been said that his girlfriend rendered aid to injured people in the food court. Now that is a true power couple!
Introducing the Good Guy With A Gun Practice Drill
Many of my Second Amendment friends are impressed with the level of accuracy this young man achieved. Most practice drills are performed at a distance of 7 to 10 yards therefore you can understand why people are impressed. I am sure that the next time I get together with friends, we will try to hit our target at 40 yards with 8 out of 10 hitting their target within 15 seconds. Believe me, this is not an easy task.
